LWI recently marked the World Hepatitis Day WHD2012 at LWI with an in-house seminar on ‘Hear See Speak’, with a goal to informing at least 5,000 people about Hepatitis and Liver Disease, Screening and prevention.
We are adopting ‘Hear See Speak’ as the LWI Advocacy Tool for Hepatitis.
In order to implement the new initiative, at least 7 LWI Interns were tutored on Hepatitis. The 7 interns were , Fidel, a public health postgraduate intern from University of Arizona USA, and. Tolu, Tola, Imole, Chidinma, Bukky and Seyi , public health interns from Babcock University, Ilishan, Ogun State. In a programme titled ‘Training of the Tots’, the LWI Hepatitis Training Programme entailed Presentations by the interns, to mark WHD2012.
The disease patterns, prevalence , prevention and treatment options were discussed extensively, with each intern presenting on powerpoint.
The Hear See Speak concept in line with the Guinness Book of Record Advocacy on Hepatitis was further emphasised, with each intern promising to share the message with at least 10-50 peers who are expected in return to share the message with at least 10-50 people, to achieve the target 5,000 per person.
